The Tyne & Wear Recruit into Coaching programme aims to recruit 10,000 adult volunteers into coaching over the 2008 to 2011 delivery period. The programme will be delivered in 70 of the most deprived areas of the country and will aim to provide adults with the skills and inspiration to volunteer as a coach. It is hoped the programme will contribute to workforce development, encourage people from deprived areas to be active and personally involved in their communities, as well as developing more adult role models within school and community sport.
The programme will be delivered jointly by Sport England and the Youth Sport Trust (YST). The club/community based elements of the workstrand will be delivered by County Sport Partnerships (CSPs) in partnership with local and national partners.
Tyne & Wear Sport has been allocated resources to recruit a minimum of 92 people into coaching within the first year of the programme.
