Kellogg's Free Family Fun Day in North Tyneside
25 Jun 2009 20:08

The Kellogg's Swim Active project continues to grow in success after holding a free family swim day at Tynemouth and Lakeside pools during the late May bank holiday.

The day encouraged families, both new users and regular swimmers, into the pools to experience the facilities and to form part of a healthy lifestyle to encourage them to visit again. Various activities were available to the 470 adults and children who attended including general swimming, floats, toys and also diving sessions at Tynemouth pool.

The usage of the pool increased dramatically with over 33 times more families attending the pool compared with the previous bank holiday. The success of the first session has been attributed to the promotional work carried out in the area and the work with local partners like Children’s Centres, Play Groups, Sure Start, PCT, Adult Weight Management, Healthy Living Centres, all local schools, Churchill Community College, Community and Resource Centres and all 75 families who attend the Carnegie Weight Management Programme all received a brief and all promotional material.

For details of future sessions, please contact: The Lakeside Centre, Killingworth on 0191 643 4177 or Tynemouth Pool on 0191 643 2900 for further information.
