Leadership & Governance

"Strong leadership and good governance are vital in creating successful and sustainable voluntary sector organisations. Many organisations don’t often find the opportunity to consider best practice in this area, which is why Project North East’s offer is an ideal opportunity for leaders and governors to work together better, and make a real difference to their organisations and their service users.”
Fiona Ellis, Director, Northern Rock Foundation

PNE, in partnership with Governance Works and supported by the Northern Rock Foundation, is providing an exciting opportunity for organisations in the voluntary and community sector (VCS) to consider their own Leadership & Governance arrangements, strengthen the links between their strategic and operational objectives, and plan the future sustainability of their organisation.

The training is open to up to three key people from each organisation who are responsible for their organisation’s Leadership & Governance eg. two board members and the Senior Manager/CEO.

The training will enable participants to:

  • Understand the principles of good governance
  • Understand the legal aspects of running their organisation
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of their own organisation’s leadership and governance arrangements
  • Develop an organisational strategy
  • Consider their leadership style and skills
  • Understand the difference between Management and Leadership
  • Implement an action plan to strengthen their organisation’s leadership and governance

A fee of £200 per organisation is payable in order to secure your places.

The venue for the training is TBC. The programme will run from 12.30pm-4.30pm on the following dates:

    Tuesday 2nd October 2007
    Tuesday 30th October 2007
